The tour of the three churches

The tour of the three churches begins with an introduction to the old church in Keuruu and life in Keuruu for four hundred years.

You will become familiar with the footstool, the pew, as well as the lovely wall paintings of the church.

After the guided tour, we will enjoy a hearty lunch in the charming Keuruu Old Rectory, where we will hear the story of the 12 vicars. After a leisurely lunch break, the bus heads towards the secretly built the wildernesschurch of Pihlajavesi and village Pihlajavesi. The church is one of the seven wonders of Central Finland due to the shadows of the parishioners that appeared on the church walls.

After the guide, we return to the bus again and head to Petäjävesi.

After enjoyed the coffee in a beautiful country landscape, we head to Petäjävesi’s Old Church. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Petäjävesi’s old church tells the story of the everyday life of the Finnish people for four centuries. The old church, built by Central Finnish peasants in 1763-65, is carved with astonishing skill and hides life’s greatest emotions. Admire the paintings in the church hall, which have been preserved almost in their original condition, and feel the peaceful atmosphere of the church – come and get to know the architecture and stories of the old church in Petäjävesi as part of the Three Church Tour!

The visit includes a coffee service at the Lemettilä or Kumpusen tourist farm, where you can enjoy excellent cuisine in a traditional environment.
