Keuruu welcomes You throughout the year

In Keuruu there is plenty to do whether you are interested in cultural events or sports or spending time in the nature. The beautiful lakes and the shores can best be seen aboard the paddle wheeler m/s Elias Lönnrot.

Start your visit in Keuruu in the Old Keuruu area where the history of the town can best be seen. The oldest church building in Central Finland, The Old Church of Keuruu, is now more than 250 years old. In the area you can also find the magnificient Old Rectory as well as the rectory’s former stone cowhouse, today the home of the Kamana travel centre. In the summer cabins you can find for example art and clothing. If you want to buy souverins or gifts you can find local products in the Navikka shop and Maalaisvakka.

In the former railway station building there are lovely exhibitions in summer. Continue you tour to The Museum of Local History and Culture and to Punnonen house in which the local artists have their summer exhibition.

The home harbour of the paddle wheeler Elias Lönnrot is also located in the Old Keuruu area. The ship cruises from Keuruu to Hotel Keurusselkä.

You can choose accommodation from hotels, cottages or camping areas. The Hotel Keurusselkä and hotel Viikinhovi which are located by the lake Keurusselkä offer rooms.

Haapamäki Steam Locomotive Park is open during summer months. In the park you can find old, huge steam engines and other railway equipment. The area of the park is seven hectares. In the park there are also the longest miniature railway in Finland, a children’s playground, animals, a candy store, a restaurant, dancing on Saturdays and several events during the summer.

Nordic Fitness Sport Park does not disappoint you. The Keurusselkä Sports Park offers 11 marked tracks for Nordic walking, skiing or jogging. You can set your own pace. You can also spend your time pleasantly in the new, spa-like swimming hall. (Located 1 km from Hotel Keurusselkä).
